Haunting

This moved me to tears. Well one lone tear actually, like the kind you see in movies that dramatically comes out of one eye. I loved the story. It's a PG rated story, and I couldn't help but wish it was hotter, even though there is plenty of romantic tension between Max and Alexis. It packed in quite a bit in what seemed to be not too many pages. I felt as if I started it and finished it in a blink of an eye, which is always the sign of a great book!

I thought this was an absolutely delightful book. The characters were cute and believable and the story was fresh. I especially loved the mother and the two little girls. A very nice and enjoyable read. denise bailey

Great Romance

The synapses had me from the start. Alexis had me from the start with her Mission Impossible style entrance into the story. And Max, in the first discussion with his mum, I was like 'awwwwww, love him'! By chapter 2, we know what conflict is going to eventuate, which leads to utter rediculousness, but I kept turning those pages because I was already in love with the characters, and also with author Loretta Hill's writing style. Strictly PG story here, but I still really enjoyed the romance. Would love to read more books from Loretta, when the prices become reasonable.

About the Author
John L. Worrall is Professor of Criminology and Program Head at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). A Seattle native, he received a B.A., double majoring in psychology and law and justice, from Central Washington University in 1994. Both his M.A. (criminal justice) and Ph.D. (political science) were received from Washington State University, where he graduated in 1999. From 1999-2006, he was a member of the criminal justice faculty at California State University, San Bernardino. He joined UTD in Fall 2006, was promoted to full professor in 2008, and in 2010 was selected to direct the criminology program. Dr. Worrall has published articles and book chapters on a wide range of topics ranging from legal issues in policing to crime measurement, having recently been ranked one of the most prolific sole and lead authors in the discipline. Courses he regularly teaches (and has authored texts for) include introductory criminal justice, criminal procedure, and crime control policy. As Program Head at UTD, Dr. Worrall directs undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. programs in criminology, including an online MS program, which he developed. He is active in the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Society of Criminology, and a number of regional associations. Finally, he continues to serve as editor of the journal Police Quarterly, a position he has held since 2008.

First time with Kindle for PC and eText book.

I like that I can search for words or phrases quickly, or go straight to a page with something that I'm looking for. I like that I can click on the table of contents and be at that page. I like that I can scroll from page to page and jump around in the book. I can zoom in and I can reduce to see the whole page for skimming headings. It's versatile and effective and easy to read.

The book itself is a decent book. What can you say, unless you're an instructor you don't usually get to choose which book you want to use. But, it seems to be a very good book, well put together, with case studies to help enhance understanding and application.

Must Read for Art Lovers

If you are at all interested in the history of art, modern art, this is the book to read. Utterly fascinating, but what is really great are the full page color reprints of the art. I was introduced to artists I had never heard of, and fell in love with some, particularly Picabbia. Over 30 essays by different writers, each fairly short and easy to understand by the lay person. Except perhaps for the essays on film. I did have a hard time with those. Unfortunately, and my only quibble with this book, is that there is no reference at all as to who these people are, what their credentials might be. I would have liked to know. That said, it is a simply marvelous art book, one to own and refer to again and again.

I actually went to MOMA on February 13th, but, alas, they had little on display of these artists, except for one room. Only one Picabbia, and that one not the best. Perhaps because three whole rooms were closed for work. A fair representation of Robert Delauney, however. Especially his "Windows".

I have slowly come to appreciate Modern Art, and this book reinforced my understanding of it. I was very sorry to have finished it.

Wow!!!This is a super hot read!!! It is mostly smexy scenes that will scorch you reader!! Fortunately it has a great little story mixed in as well. I am intrigues by this world and would love to read more of this series.

Super hot menage, voyeurism and a touch of domination. Sigh, have a bucket of ice or a cold shower handy!! Lordy, Harlequin Spice is not playing when it comes to the smexy!!!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Emily Cauldwell, who is great! She has a delightful rasp to her voice, especially when she reads the men!! She had a really swift pace that fit the read perfectly. I would love to hear more of her reads, she had great energy and movement in her voice.

The face of idealistic evil.

4/28/99 Pavel Sudoplatov joined the secret police as a boy, and rose to be one of Beria's most trusted assistants, in charge of sabotage, assassinations, and atomic bomb espionage. Though Sudoplatov sometimes gets things wrong (not suprising when working from memory fifty years later), he has a wealth of information on how Stalin's secret police worked, and presents a chilling picture of the kind of people who thought they were building a better world through mass murder. After reading this, you'll have better understanding of how so many Westerners could betray their countries to the USSR, and why so many are still trying to pretend it didn't happen. This new edition has some interesting material that answers criticisms made of the first edition, especially his claim that Los Alamos director J. Robert Oppenheimer passed on information about the atomic bomb (I seem to be the only serious student of the Oppenheimer case who believes Sudoplatov on this). Recommended.

A chilling first-person account of Stalinism

I read the first edition and bought the second edition just to read the reactions which are printed in the book. Predictably, many still cling to their version of sugar-coated history. Fortunately, historians like Robert Conquest know the real truth. And Conquest said "This is the most sensational, the most devastating, and in many ways the most informative autobiography ever to emerge from the Stalinist milieu". In the updated foreword he again defends the overall veracity of this document. He has good reason to do this.
You won't believe the documentation in the back of the book. Atomic espionage documents, Katyn Forest Massacre, and more.

This book is ESSENTIAL to understand Power in the former Soviet Union. It's almost the history of the first decades of the soviet intelligence services written in a reasonably detailled manner. It's revealing on the nature of Power under Stalin rule. I also recommend the Portuguese translation (if you happen to speak Portuguese) since it was very carefully done. If you study this subject in particular get every translation you are able to read! Great book!

I am on Day 27 and loving every minute of it. I am a counselor and have learned many of the concepts taught thus far but Rhonda Jones has a gift of presenting things from a spiritual standpoint that just makes sense. I am finding that at the end of the day's reading I want more and can't wait to the next day. Learning tips that help me to do what I've desired for many years, to turn over the mind to God, has changed my life. The meditations are absolutely amazing and even though the same ones are repeated the effect on any given day is different. Rhonda's voice and her emphasis on claiming God's Word make meditation much more powerful than any others I have heard in the past. I am finding that I am using many of the examples in my counseling practice and I have recommended this book and Rhonda's meditations/affirmations to every one of my clients. I just believe they are that effective and I am not easily impressed. The title "Help Me God! Change My Life!" is perfect because that is exactly what transpires, surrender to God and allowing Him to change your life.
